127 – Believing It’ll Happen with Christy Pennison

Welcome back to the Scale Your Small Business Podcast with your host, Jillian Flodstrom! Our guest today is Christy Pennison, board-certified counselor and founder of Be Inspired Counseling & Consulting in Alexandria, LA.  She has coached and advised dozens of women, mental health professionals, and business owners from across the country to help them grow through the many challenges they face. She is highly recognized by other professionals in her field. As a result, she was awarded the 20 under 40 Acadiana Leadership Award.

Starting her business, Be Inspired, came in a whirlwind. After leaving a job working with mental health programming, she took the leap to become a contractor for a new client. During a visit back home, she had a lightbulb moment that lead her to sell her house and move back to start her work.

That didn’t come without fear, though. Often times she felt herself asking “Is this really what I’m supposed to be doing?” But, Christy says if you have a strong enough vision, and believe in yourself to figure it out, you will. Consistency and persistence will prevail, you just have to be able to be pivot.

The hardest part about growing a business, Christy says, is that you have to do many things yourself initially. The combat this, get in consulting groups where there are other businesses like yours that are like 10 steps ahead. If you find yourself in a stuck place, and don’t know what to do, invest in yourself
